Jason Goldberg
Jason has been an assistant prosecutor with the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office since 2014. He was appointed to the APANJ Vice Presidency on February 1, 2022. Jason is currently assigned to the Homicide Task Force, a vertical prosecution unit where he works in conjunction with detectives in the active investigation of homicide and suspicious death cases from inception through sentencing. He previously served in the Special Prosecutions Unit, Narcotics Task Force, Adult Trial Section, Remand and Juvenile Units. Jason has successfully prosecuted a multitude of felony jury trials including murder, robbery, home invasion, kidnapping, aggravated assault, gun possession and narcotics trafficking.
Prior to becoming an assistant prosecutor, Jason served as law clerk to the Honorable Rudolph A. Filko, J.S.C., Passaic County, Criminal Division. Throughout law school, Jason served as a law clerk at Critchley, Kinum, & DeNoia, L.L.C., where he had the privilege of being mentored by Michael Critchley, Sr. and former partner, the Honorable John Vazquez, U.S.D.J.
Jason obtained his J.D. at Seton Hall University School of Law. At Seton Hall, Jason was named co-chairperson of the Mock Trial Team and awarded Best Advocate at the Peter James Johnson National Civil Rights Trial Competition. Jason earned his B.A. in Political Science and History from the University of Maryland, College Park. He is an active member of both the New Jersey and New York bars.
