Adam Salzer
Adam Salzer was appointed as a Trustee of the APANJ in May of 2020. Recently, Adam was elected to a one-year term following the APANJ’s first on-line election. Adam joined the APANJ to advocate on behalf of assistant prosecutors and deputy attorneys general throughout the State for pension reform to ensure a more secure retirement for its members. He hopes to ensure that prosecutors throughout the State have a seat at the table when important changes are enacted that affect our positions and daily lives.
Adam has been an assistant prosecutor since 2011. Adam began his legal career in the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office in 2010 as a Legal Assistant in the Appellate Section. In 2011, Adam was sworn as an Assistant Essex County Prosecutor. Adam started his career in the Megan’s Law Unit and Special Remand Court before spending four years on the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office, Adult Trial Team. In 2016, Adam joined the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office and is currently assigned to the Gangs and Narcotics Task Force where he serves as its Assistant Chief. Adam also serves as the legal advisor for the Hudson County Regional SWAT Team. Throughout his nine years as an assistant prosecutor, Adam has significant experience in investigating and prosecuting violent crimes, including non-fatal shootings, carjacking, and homicide, as well as large scale narcotics distribution schemes.
Adam received his B.A. in Political Science from Indiana University, Bloomington, IN. During his time at Indiana University, Adam spent a semester as an intern for the White House, Washington, D.C. After college, Adam attended New York Law School, where he obtained his J.D. He is an active member of both the New Jersey and New York bars.
Prior to his prosecutorial career, Adam worked as a summer intern for the Union County Prosecutor’s Office and the New Jersey Division of Criminal Justice. In addition to his legal career, he served as an Emergency Medical Technician for the Elizabeth Fire Department from 2008 through 2018
