Jaimee Chasmer

Jaimee M. Chasmer is an Assistant Prosecutor at the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office.  She is assigned to the Appellate Section, where she is responsible for a case load of appeals in the Law Division, Appellate Division and Supreme Court.  She also routinely advises trial attorneys on current prosecutions, primarily in major cases.

Before joining the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office, AP Chasmer served as an Assistant Prosecutor in Hudson County, assigned to the Appellate Section.  And prior to starting her career as an assistant prosecutor, AP Chasmer completed two clerkships -- a criminal trial court clerkship with the Honorable Frances A. McGrogan, J.S.C., in Bergen County and a clerkship in the Appellate Division with the Honorable Mitchel E. Ostrer, J.A.D.

One aspect of being an assistant prosecutor that AP Chasmer particularly enjoys is the opportunity to teach.  AP Chasmer annually instructs new police recruits on search and seizure issues during a week-long class at the Bergen County Police Academy and has presented a Miranda update for current law enforcement officers.  AP Chasmer has also taught the Evidentiary Issues lecture during the Attorney General’s Basic Prosecutor School for newly hired assistant county prosecutors and deputy attorneys general and has taught a course on municipal appeals for municipal prosecutors.

Before becoming Treasurer in 2024, Jaimee proudly served as an Odd-Year Trustee and, before that, as Bergen County’s Delegate At Large.
